COMPANY AND CONTEXT


R2DEMUP was a joint venture between Goupil Technology (UNIVRSITY) and the Pprime Institute, a research unit of the
French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) specializing in robotics HMI.

The initiative focused on developing a digital twin of a robotic arm.
This provided engineering students with an immersive, hands-on environment to intuitively explore and manipulate complex robotic models.

As the lead designer for UNIVRSITY, I established the platform's UX/UI foundations.
I leveraged these core design principles to build R2DEMUP, ensuring a seamless user experience while adapting the system to meet the specialized needs of robotic researchers.

UX Strategy

Strategic Ideation & Project Specifications

I led the strategic ideation phase by aligning research objectives with technical feasibility. By developing detailed functional specifications for the digital twin, we ensured a cohesive integration between the robot’s physical hardware and the interface’s simulation capabilities.

Built on the UNIVRSITY platform, R2DEMUP creates a 'phygital' ecosystem that offers an immersive, end-to-end robotics lab experience.

Feature Design

Cross-Functional Logic & Mechanics

To define a simple system for their complex needs, I collaborated closely with mathematics and robotics experts and researchers to translate their operational pain points into a suite of innovative, user-centric features. Key initiatives included (but not limited to):

    Built an intuitive, modular framework for guided practical courses, ensuring a frictionless progression from theory to application.

    Designed dynamic graphing tools and equation editors that provide instant visual feedback, simplifying the interpretation of complex robotic simulations.

    Bridged the gap between physical hardware and digital simulation, allowing students to visualize the real-time impact of their commands on the robot.
